Keeping with tradition, Apple released the latest update to their desktop operating system macOS Mojave at the end of September. The Mojave update introduced several much-anticipated features including a new Dark Mode to macOS.

The AutoCAD for Mac 2018.2 and AutoCAD for Mac 2017.3 updates mostly address bugs and provide support for macOS Mojave. One new feature, which could be considered part of supporting the new macOS update, is support for Mojave’s new Dark Mode. MacBook introduced in 2015 or later MacBook Air introduced in 2012 or later. Solution: AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac 2016 and earlier are not compatible with macOS 10.14.x (Mojave). AutoCAD Versions 2017 and later are, although the latest updates for the products need to be applied (see Autodesk Downloads). Sometimes older AutoCAD programs may launch on Mojave, but keep in mind they are not designed to run on it and may not operate properly.

As with all major operating system updates, it’s best to delay your upgrade until software vendors have a chance to release their own updates to support it. For users of AutoCAD for Mac, that day arrived on Monday.

Users of AutoCAD for Mac 2018 and AutoCAD for Mac 2017 should see an in-product notification alerting them of the update. In addition to this notification, the update is available for download from the Autodesk Account portal.
